Our Favourite Recipes of 2024

2024!! What a year - and a journey! For the blog it has been a year of remakes updates and cleanup. For me personally it has been about slowing down a bit (just a bit;) - recovering from surgery and listening to my body more and cleaning up my sleep habits that have been horrific since the pandemic. At the same time I have been diving into more volunteer work surrounding myself with wonderful people with similar goals and passions - that have nothing to do with work. It has been a good year for that and 2025 will be even more volunteer-work focused. But don’t worry I will still be blogging and cooking all the things I love! It was really difficult to choose my fav blog recipes for 2024 because I only share what I love - so here are some of my families favs. Hope you enjoy!

Greek Inspired

You guys know I always have to include some Greek recipes on the blog each year. Some may argue that there should be more considering I am Greek. I’m constantly recipe testing and perfecting Greek recipes I grew up enjoying. It takes a while to put them on the blog because as I have mentioned before my mom isn’t one for recipes or measurements - everything is eyeballing, tasting and a feel for so although I did inherit a bit of that from her and never make a recipe the same twice - that doesn’t quite work for the bog. So here are a few that I love and you guys have made and loved this year!

Salads & Veggie Forward Dishes

I finally got my egg salad and chicken salad recipes on the blog this year - it took me long enough! My tuna salad I had up last year and this year I needed to complete the trifecta! They are both delicious and of course I needed to get some veggie forward dishes on the bog that I thought you guys would like to enjoy as full meals or sides. I make the orzo pasta salad a lot - I think my hubby is sick of it - but he is sort of obsessed with the taco salad! I have been testing japchae recipes for a long time and I have to say was a bit disappointed with some of the ones I had ordered in the past so I wanted a recipe that has a good noodle, meat, veggie, sauce ratio and I think I nailed it in the recipe on the blog. I just love making takeout food better at home so expect more dishes like that to come on the blog and simplified versions of them.

Sweet Treats

I don’t have a sweet tooth but I can’t resist a good chocolate chip /chocolate chunk cookie - these cookie bars really nail the ultimate texture chewy gooey with crisp edges. The bakery style oatmeal ones are a cookie I have been obsessed with since I tried them at a coffee shop this year. They are so good and loaded with almonds, dark chocolate chunks and dried blueberries - the combo just works! My hubby is a sucker for cheesecake so his fav is my no bake lemon cheesecake. It is so easy to make and perfect for any occasion. Speaking of easy my self saucing sticky toffee pudding is a blog fav and I just got it on the blog last week - I get it though I am all for tasty dessert recipes that are low effort with high reward - this is def that kind of recipe - also why I love my Chocolate Pudding Cake . Last but not least I updated my spiced pear galette and really forgot how much I love this recipe - it comes in tied with my Dutch apple pie but I thought since pears are so underrated I would highlight the Pear galette.

Comfort Food

You guys love comfort food and I get it I do too! I don’t do well with the cream heavy dishes - those are my husband’s fav so ofcourse he loved the marry me chicken recipe and requests it a lot and he is a huge fan of my cajun shrimp pasta too and the rotel dip - I mean I get it they are all soooo good. He also could eat my cottage pie everyday and so could I for that matter - pure comfort! Im all about the spice and smoke so my favs are really my tikka masala and my birria. Worth the effort to get some of the ingrediensts that you might not always have in your pantry - but I am sure you will be using them again to make those recipes more often.
